Tips on managing anger

 

  • Walk away and calm down
  • Take steady breaths. Focus on exhaling slowly
  • Count to 20 or more until you feel more calm
  • Use I-message or other direct message and say what you need now and how you want to be treated
  • Take a break and use a calming tool like a stress ball
  • Push against the wall or floor and then relax
  • Move, exercise, stretch, do yoga or play sport
  • Scribble on paper, then crumple it up and throw it away
